Abstract
Pot experiment under greenhohse was conducted to determine the effect of six inoculum levels of Meloidogyne hapla, 1;000, 3;000, 5,000, 10,000; 15,000, and 20,000 eggs per pat, inn growth and yield of peony (Paeonia lactiflora). Nematode affected weight, length and diameter of tap roots, and induced malformations (forking), galling, and hairiness. Nematode damage on roots was significantly increased with the increase of inoculum levels up to 20,000 eggs/pot. Fresh weight, diameter, and length of tap roots were decreased by 39.4, 32.7 and 31.7%, respectively, at the highest density of 20,000 eggs/pot. Final density of nematode was increased as the inoculum level was increased, but the reproduction ratio was declined significantly with the increase of inoculum levels. The, highest reproduction ratio (29.3) was observed at a initial density of 1,000 whereas the lowest (5.1) was observed at 20,000 eggs/ plant.
